Sustainable Tourism Ireland (STI) is an organisation which promotes the concept of sustainability within the tourism sector. STI is building a community of like-minded people who shares the same vision and passion in growing sustainable tourism in Ireland.
Our vision and mission
Tourism in Ireland should preserve its Quality and its 'Green' image, being inspired by principles of minimal environmental impact, respect and support of local cultures and traditions, enhancing a formative experience for the tourist that strives for quality and not quantity, guaranteeing its conservation for future generations.
We believe that the sector of sustainable tourism in Ireland is overdue for development and waiting to take off, so our mission is to help this change to happen, empowering providers and users of tourism services, to included in their decisions so the principles of sustainability and responsibility:
- by supporting and promoting sustainable tourism businesses in Ireland
- by providing tourists and visitors with a wide range of useful information and guidelines on Responsible Tourism
Sustainable Tourism is already happening in Ireland! It is clear that with the advent of energy awareness brought on by the fuel crisis, Irish tourism will need to quickly embrace more sustainable practices. As well, the international market for more sustainable options is well advanced outside of Ireland, with more tourists each year requesting ecological and sustainable experiences here.
