Day 1:
Meeting at 10.00 am in the Greenhouse; introductory class about the week; focus on green economy, green enterprises and green marketing.
1.00-2.00pm: Free time/ Lunch Break
2.00-5.00pm: Session about ecotourism and biodiversity; cycling/walking green tour of Dublin.
After the session, return to hotel and dinner.
Day 2:
Meeting at 10.00 am in the Greenhouse.
Seminar: Rethinking the city - with the facilitator Erik Lennep, Tepui of Design. Tepui works, both locally and internationally to promote urban food production and uptake of Living Technologies, including Green Roofs and Living Facades on buildings. Session on sustainable urban living and sustainable living roofs.
1.00-2.00pm: Free time/ Lunch Break
2.00-5.00pm: Visit to Temple Street Commuter Centre (or similar structure) to find out about its aims of promoting sustainable transportation in the city.
After the session, return to hotel and dinner.
Day 3:
Meeting at 10.00 am in the Greenhouse.
From 10.00 to Ballymun Regeneration Ltd workshop (BRL) company set up by Dublin City Council with the aim of regenerating the suburb of Ballymun through the implementation of housing policies for social housing. The BRL is responsible both to solve the structural problems of buildings with re-housing operations, both the reorganization of services. During the seminar will be presented the draft of the regeneration of Ballymun in the building field.
Social re-generation and focus on environmental issues, with 30 minutes Q&A. Afterwards, visit to the Rediscovery Centre Projects - Composter, Rediscover Fashion Ecostore
13.00 - 14.30 Lunch at the Restaurant RECO, Ballymun.
14:30 to 16:30 Visit to the GAP projects and Fairtrade
16.30. Final remarks, return to hotel and dinner.
Day 4:
Meeting at 10.00 am in the Greenhouse.
Morning session on "Green Building" to learn about new technologies and new products with reduced environmental impact.
1.00-2.00pm: Free time/ Lunch Break
2.00-5.00pm: Overview of renewable energy; followed by a do-it-yourself building workshop building a mini solar panel for the production of renewable energy.
After the session, return to hotel and dinner.
Day 5:
Visit to the Village (www.thevillage.ie: The Cloughjordan Ecovillage is a not-for-profit organisation developing an alternative model for sustainable living). Meeting at 7am at Heuston Station in Dublin, to catch train pre-booked online; arrival to Cloughjordan 11am. Morning session for visiting all existing buildings, with in depth details of the materials used, as well as philosophy of the centre.
Afternoon: Session on food security, community supported agriculture and practical work at the Cloughjordan Community Farm.
Evening train back to Dublin at 7pm, or you can stay longer at the Village (there is an eco-hostal) to enjoy Irish countryside.
