Dublin Gardens

 

Program: 1 week  tour of Dublin


Day 1 - Arrival to Dublin airport and transfer to hotel.

Afternoon: meeting at the airport with the Sustainable Tourism Ireland staff, we will introduce the program of the week; we will distribute green maps of Dublin. 

 

Day 2 – Discover the Arts in Dublin

Morning: walking tour of Merrion Square area (with architectural appreciation of Georgian Dublin and the famous colored doors); visit to National Museum for discovering the Celtic culture;

At lunch time, assisting to a traditional “Irish music session” at Oliver Gogarthy’s Pub.

Afternoon: visiting the North side to discover literary Dublin, at Joyce's museum; also visit to Hugh Lane gallery.

 

 Day 3 – Traditional seaside village

In Howth, a traditional seaside village, it’s possible to meet local fisherman and taste local produce at Irish farmers’ markets. Activities will include:

  • Transfer with public bus from city centre Dublin
  • Viewing wildlife such as seals, herrings, cormorans, seagulls,etc.
  • Heritage walk of Howth bay and summit.

 

Day 4 – Cycling Visit to the Phoenix Park, flora, fauna, carbon footprint activity

We meet at Park Gate, rent bikes, and discover this unique Dublin landmark by bike (weather permitting). The morning will include viewing wildlife, discover the heritage, and a “Leave No Trace” awareness session.

Lunch in the park cafe.

Afternoon: afternoon to nearby Collin Barracks for Irish History & Art, or Zoo, or Irish Museum of Modern Art, or simply shopping downtown.

 

Day 4: Visiting Croke Park to enjoy Irish sports and history.

Lunch: free

Afternoon: visiting the new docklands area by bike.

 

Optional Day 4: Visit to Belfast:

Include political tour guide with ex-prisoners.

 

Day 5 – Free for shopping/traditional tour of the city.
