October 5 2009 - New store has opened in Glenealy Landscape Centre, Glenealy, Co Wicklow!
Carraig Dúlra organic farm is pleased to announce the opening of Ireland's first OOOOBY (Out Of Our Own Back Yard). It is a new food growing store in Glenealy village, Co Wicklow, featuring local produce, food growing, ecological products, crafts and fairtrade.
The non-profit store supports the local full food circle from growing to buying to preparing food, through encouraging the creation of a community network. Come meet the producers, share & exchange skills & information in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
What is available includes seasonal fresh vegetables and salads, local organic eggs, local ice cream, wholefoods, seedlings, gardening tools, potting compost, fairtrade, ecological cleaning products, recycled paper products, and local crafts.
Opening hours are 10-5 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 11:30-3:30 on Saturdays.
On Saturdays, local producers will be there to present their products in a market-like atmosphere, and it's also the day when you can pick up items you have pre-ordered, which is a money-saving system that benefits both you and the producer.
During the week you can drop in and meet friends in the store; we have fairtrade tea and coffee, organic drink boxes for the kids, and wholefood bars for sale. You can browse the catalogue while the kids play in our children's area. You can also place your order online
